PVDA Ride for Life

Barbara Strawson Young Rider Lesson Series Contest for Fundraiser Freestyle

We are excited to announce that Barbara Strawson has graciously donated a lesson series for Young Riders Participating in the Fundraiser Freestyle!

In honor of her mentor, Jill Hassler-Scoop, Barbara Strawson will give a two lesson series to each of two young riders – one in the 12-13 year age group and one for those 14-18. Unfortunately, we are not able to consider riders younger than 12 in this lesson series prize.

In the case of fewer than three entries in each age group in the Fundraiser Freestyle, we will open to all young riders who bring donations for JHU, using the same age groups.

In the case of entries which are comprised of more than one rider (e.g. drill team), each rider is considered individually for lesson series prize in their appropriate age group. Likewise, a young rider competing with an open rider or adult amateur in the FF, will be considered in their age appropriate group for the lesson series prize.

In addition to raising monies for JHU, Barbara is also requesting that each contestant who wishes to be considered for the lesson series prize to submit A ONE PAGE ESSAY related to this year’s R4L Theme “PASSION.”

  1. Submit your entry to chairman@pvdarideforlife.org.
  2. Include your name and age.
  3. “Barbara Strawson FF Lesson Series Contest” in the subject line.
  4. Essay Themes:
    1. 12- 13 year old group, “Why are you passionate about horses?”
    2. 14-18 year old group, “How do you bring passion to your riding goals?”
