PVDA Ride for LifeTM Silent Auction

A SILENT AUCTION, with opportunities to bid on (and win!) wonderful items, will take place in connection with the 2008 Ride for Life on the Show Place Arena Grand Concourse.

What is a Silent Auction?

A silent auction is often used in charity events like the PVDA Ride for LifeTM.  Items such as dressage clinics, tack, jewelry, artwork, gift certificates, etc. are donated by companies and/or individuals.  The items, or a facsimile, as well as a bidding sheet, are displayed for viewing.  Bids are written on the bidding sheet, starting with the first (and lowest dollar value) bid at the top.  Subsequent bidders write bids for increasing dollar values.  When the silent auction is closed, the individual with the highest bid “wins” the auction item for that price.

What portion of the Silent Auction proceeds goes to the Johns Hopkins Breast Cancer Center?

All proceeds from the R4L Silent Auction will be donated to the Johns Hopkins Breast Cancer Center.

How do I donate an item to the R4L Silent Auction?

Donating to the Silent Auction offers your company a highly visible opportunity to demonstrate concern about breast cancer research and awareness and support the community.  The PVDA Ride for Life Horse Show and the Dancing Horse Exhibition are well marketed on our website, in local publications, and radio.  The 2007 show was covered by major equestrian publications like USDF Connection and Dressage Today.  In addition to similar publication, the 2008 Dancing Horse Exhibition will be filmed by Dressage Clinic.com.  Click here and you will open the Silent Auction Donation Form that will guide you in donating an item.

How do I bid on the Silent Auction items?

During the R4L, the Silent Auction items will be located on the main concourse of the Prince Georges County Equestrian Center Showplace Arena.  You may enter bids on as many items as you desire, as many times as you want, until the Silent Auction closes.
