Jeannette Bair and Destiny FDF, the 2006 Senior High Pledge Winner
Need motivation? Jeannette Bair generated $4,615 by asking everyone she knew including friends, family, her veterinarian, trainer, co-workers, and anyone else she could think of if they could just donate $10.00. To her surprise, the wallets opened up and she received hundreds when she'd asked for ten.
Jeannette was so personally motivated to collect donations, that when her horse was injured, she didn't want to let her sponsors down, so she took one of her broodmares, Destiny FDF, right out of the field and rode her tests. For Jeannette, it was about coming down centerline as a representative for all who supported her Ride for Life day.
Ashley Boyan and Positron, the 2006 High Pledge Junior Rider, raised $3,125 by going to her family and friends, but asked them to help her through their businesses. To her pleasant surprise, friends and business associates enthusiastically opened their wallets with hundreds of dollars when she'd only asked for a few. Ashley and her family have lost several loved ones to breast cancer, so for Ashley and her horse Positron to compete in the Ride for Life, it was a way to honor those they'd loved and lost, and to make a statement against breast cancer.
Jeannette and Ashley were joined by many other riders who have been personally affected by breast cancer. Some of the other high pledge riders include: Janna Bakhramov, Liz Erwin, Carolyn Steppe, Kristen Gray, Melinda Bauerlien, Gail Ann Joyce, Dorie Forte, Christina Dale, Trisha DeRosa, Barbara Strawson, Lori Parkins, Laura Cross, Lisa Hensley, Karen Holweck-Mulraney, Leslie Albert, Alexandra Bradley, Virginia Class, Deanna Mann, and Rebecca Boardman.
