Nicole Uphoff-Selke

Nicole Uphoff-Selke is a four-time, Olympic Gold Medalist in Dressage (1988 - Soeul and 1992 - Barcelona). She began her love of horses at age nine and received her first horse for her tenth birthday. When she was thirteen, her father discovered the gelding Askan, then six years old, and the three-year old gelding Rembrandt, a brown Westphalian son of Romadour II. Nicole rode and trained both horses with the assistance of her trainer. As they say, the rest is history...

The Potomac Valley Dressage Association (PVDA) Ride for Life™ (R4L) is both a licensed (recognized) dressage show and a benefit fundraiser for breast cancer.

The PVDA is the second oldest dressage club in the United States. Founded in 1964 in Gaithersburg, MD, PVDA promotes the art and sport of dressage by providing leadership, education, scholarships and competitions.

The R4L was started in 2004 as the dream of PVDA member Pat Artimovich. The R4L benefits the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Center. In addition to the show and benefit, the R4L has a Saturday evening Gala Dinner and Dancing Horse Challenge with exhibitions by top dressage riders and a challenge between riding disciplines.

Please join us and participate in all or some of the event as we share our love of horses and our dedication to a very worthy cause that supports saving lives.

This web site will explain how you can help make the R4L a continuing success. Whether you are a sponsor; a rider or non-rider bringing in donations; a clinician, company or individual contributing to the Silent Auction or Rider Raffle; a vendor; a seller or buyer of merchandise; a person, barn, or family looking forward to a great meal and entertainment at the Gala Dinner and the Dancing Horse Challenge; and/or a volunteer or other supporter; we welcome and encourage your participation and donations and we wholeheartedly thank you for your effort.
